Jack Furtner Award

Jack Furtner, son of the ADACBGA Co-founder and long- time board president, Jane Furtner, lost his struggle with the disease of addiction in August, 2014. In Memory of Jack Furtner and for all those who have struggled or continue to struggle with the disease of addiction, the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Certification Board of Georgia will award an individual annually with a full scholarship package for our annual conference. The scholarship recipient will be recognized at the 2022 10th Annual Alcohol and Drug Abuse Certification Board of Georgia Conference during the closing session on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at the Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel & Convention Center.

Nominations will be accepted for eligible individuals, who meet the criteria listed below. Completed nomination form(s) submitted must be received at the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Certification Board of Georgia, no later than close of business May 6, 2022.

Nomination Criteria:

  • The individual should be in personal recovery for the disease of addiction.
  • The individual should be an actively certified addiction professional or seeking certification through ADACBGA and/or IC&RC.
  • The Jack Furtner Memorial Scholarship Award will be based on the individual’s recovery story.
  • Winner will be notified by June 1, 2022 and required to attend to receive the award.
  • Winner will receive a scholarship registration to attend this year’s ADACBGA Conference.
  • The person nominating this scholarship will be asked to co-present at the closing session at the conference on June 15, 2022.
